Pahang FA captain Razman Roslan ready for one last hurrah

Veteran defender Razman Roslan will lead his Pahang FA team out on Saturday in the Malaysia Cup Final against Johor Darul Takzim FC (JDT) with his mind set on retaining the trophy he lifted back in 2013.

Roslan made the move from Selangor FA to Pahang FA in 2012, after spending ten years at the club and made an immediate impact by helping Dollah Salleh's team to become Malaysia Cup champions in 2013.

Despite Dollah relinquishing the Pahang post to become head coach of the Malaysian national team, Roslan has continued to flourish under new coach Zainal Abidin's tenure and is ready to lead his men to glory against JDT on Saturday.

Speaking to the New Straits Times, the 30-year-old said: "I have always had a huge appreciation towards the both of them and as coaches they have had a positive impact on my progress in the game. Zainal has also put his confidence in me to captain the team this season and leading the players into the field on Saturday will be the biggest moment of my career."

Razman knows that Pahang have a tough task ahead of them, with the star-studded JDT team looking to do the league and cup double with the help of their star imports like Luciano Figueroa and Jorge Pereyra Diaz, but the veteran is confident his team have what it takes to keep the Malaysia Cup trophy in Kuantan.

"The players can look back on this season's FA Cup victory against Felda United as a confidence-booster ahead of the final. We came from behind in the final minutes to secure a 2-1 win." added Razman.

"In the Malaysia Cup, we snatched a late away winner against Police [PDRM] in the quarter-finals before the clash against Kedah, where we were trailing by a two-goal margin before winning the return leg in Kuantan. All this nail-bitting matches have helped the players to be sharp, both physically and mentally,"

The match will take place on Saturday evening at the magnificent Bukit Jalil stadium and it could very well be Razman's last match for the Elephants, with his former team Selangor looking to lure him back.
