Real Sociedad looking for Arrasate 'alternatives,' David Moyes in frame

Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay has admitted to sounding out potential replacements for current coach Jagoba Arrasate, with Spanish media reports claiming David Moyes is one of the names being considered.

Arrasate has had a difficult time in the job after being promoted from the club's youth structure in the summer of 2013, and is reportedly close to being sacked having overseen a poor start to the current season. La Real have picked up just one win in their first nine La Liga games, while they also suffered an embarrassing Europa League exit to FC Krasnodar.

Possible replacements being mentioned in the local media include highly-rated former Mainz coach Thomas Tuchel, previous Real Madrid, Sevilla and Tottenham manager Juande Ramos and ex-Real Betis and West Bromwich Albion boss Pepe Mel.

According to Cope radio, former Everton and Manchester United manager Moyes is also in the frame, with the Scot having said during recent interviews with the British media that he is now keen to get back into the game.

Aperribay revealed on El Larguero that the team's recent form had led him to start looking at other "alternatives" should a change be required.

"It is true that we are working on finding other alternatives and possibilities," he said. "I have spoken about that with the coach [Arrasate], who knows that already. A club in this situation looks at alternatives and possibilities in case things happen and situations get more difficult."

AS says that no decision will be made this week, but Arrasate knows that should his team not win Saturday's La Liga game at home to Malaga, then a new boss is likely to be in charge for the match against champions Atletico Madrid the following weekend.
