Argentine legend Diego Maradona on Monday said he only "threw a cell phone" and denied hitting girlfriend Rocio Oliva.
Maradona was responding to a video, which was seen on Monday on Argentine TV Channel 13's programme, ''Nosotros al mediodia," in which Oliva is heard saying "Stop, stop, stop hitting me Diego."
Maradona appears to throw a phone and then approaches Oliva and raises his hands in her direction as she is filming the incident on her phone in the short video.
"Yes, I threw a phone but I swear to you that I have never have hit a woman," he told Channel 13 reporter Marina Calabro. "The incident started and ended there. I made the telephone fly but that was it. The situation did not continue and nothing happened."
