Liverpool's Mario Balotelli faces no police action over car picture incident

Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli will face no further action over claims that he threatened a woman who took photographs of his car, police have confirmed.

Balotelli, 24, was visiting his mother in the Manchester suburb of Wythenshawe last Thursday when the alleged incident took place.

One woman called police to complain that the Italy international had walked over to her in a threatening manner to demand that she stopped taking pictures of his red Ferrari.

But after police investigated the claims, the woman -- who has not been named publicly -- has decided not to make a formal complaint, Greater Manchester Police said in a statement.

"No criminal offences were disclosed and no crime recorded," the police statement read.

"Police were called to Pewsey Road, Wythenshawe, just after 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014 following reports of threatening behaviour.

"Officers have since spoken to the complainant [and] no further action will be taken."

The incident occurred a day after Balotelli was replaced at half-time during Liverpool's 3-0 Champions League defeat to Real Madrid at Anfield.

The Italy international faced criticism from both fans and manager Brendan Rodgers after swapping shirts with Real defender Pepe and half-time, and though Rodgers has since said the "case is closed" regarding the striker's behaviour, he admits Balotelli's long-term future "remains to be seen."

Balotelli has struggled for form since his 16 million-pound move from AC Milan this summer, scoring just once in all competitions as the Reds struggle to hit the form they showed last season in the Premier League.
