La Liga: Sevilla hit two late goals to go level with Barcelona at top

High-flying Sevilla went level at the top of La Liga with Barcelona as they hit two goals in the final two minutes to beat Villarreal 2-1 on Sunday.

Luciano Vietto gave the away side a shock lead with 11 minutes remaining but Denis Suarez netted in the 88th minute and a controvesial penalty -- after Giovani dos Santos tripped Benoit Tremoulinas just inside the corner of the area -- from Carlos Bacca gave Sevilla the points with seconds left.

Sevilla are now tied on 22 points with Barcelona at the top, with Real Madrid one behind in third place.

A close range finish from Mario Mandzukic gave Atletico Madrid all three points at Getafe after a scrappy 1-0 performance -- but the win sees Diego Simeone's side keep pace with the four other title challengers.

The Croatian international pounced on an error by Getafe goalkeeper Vicente Guaita to score the only goal of the game five minutes before the break and the visitors' task should have been made easier when Getafe defender Alexis was shown a straight red card for clashing with Manzdukic.

However, Cosmin Contra's side made the champions sweat for the win and squandered a number of chances to level late on.

The result means Atletico stay fifth in the able but are only two points adrift of leaders Barcelona and Sevilla.

Malaga racked up their third consecutive win with a dominant display of counter-attacking football in a 4-0 win against Rayo Vallecano.

Nodin Amrabat was the star of the show for the hosts, causing havoc down Rayo's left-hand side and through the middle, and was involved in all four of Malaga's goals.

The first arrived after only six minutes, Samuel Garcia receiving the ball from the Moroccan and hitting a deflected shot in at the near post.

Sergi Darder poked home a second midway through the first half and Juanmi notched a third on the stroke of half-time with a silky finish, while Amrabat grabbed goal number four early in the second half from the penalty spot.

Espanyol and Deportivo La Coruna played out a dour 0-0 draw that did little to help either side.

With both in mid-table and looking to get moving this campaign, this sort of game was the last thing they needed.

Chances were few and far between, but the best of those which did come fell to Espanyol, meaning the visitors are likely to be the happier side.
