Lille boss Rene Girard backs Liverpool loanee Divock Origi for greatness

Lille coach Rene Girard has hailed Divock Origi as "a great striker of the future" and compared him favourably to Samuel Eto'o and Romelu Lukaku following the Liverpool-bound youngster's display against Everton.

Having established himself as a burgeoning talent at Lille, Origi signed a six-year deal at Anfield this summer but was immediately loaned back to the Ligue 1 club for the season.

Though the 19-year-old failed to find the back of the net in Thursday's goalless draw with the Toffees, Origi impressed, and Girard, who helped bring Olivier Giroud to prominence at Montpellier, told media Liverpool will not be disappointed with the 10 million pounds they invested in the Belgium international.

"I'm happy with Origi's display, he did some very good things," the 2011-12 Ligue 1 title-winning boss said. "He showed that he's a great striker of the future. If you compare him to Eto'o and Lukaku, there's not a lot of difference."
