Monaco confirm Dimitar Berbatov out for three weeks with thigh injury

Monaco striker Dimitar Berbatov faces three weeks on the sidelines after suffering a thigh injury in the 0-0 Champions League draw against Benfica.

Berbatov, who includes Tottenham and Manchester United among his former clubs, had to be substituted after 33 minutes of the goalless stalemate at the Stade Louis II on Wednesday evening.

Monaco have since confirmed the extent of the striker's setback, stating in a medical bulletin on the club's official website: "Dimitar Berbatov will be unavailable until mid-November.

"Dimitar Berbatov has an adductor muscle injury in his left thigh which occurred during the Champions League match against Benfica. His absence is estimated at three weeks.''

Wednesday's 0-0 draw leaves Monaco second in Group C, one point behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen and one ahead of third-placed Zenit St Petersburg.
