Vincent Kompany asks why Man City fans were banned in Moscow

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has accused UEFA of punishing his club's supporters after their Champions League game against CSKA Moscow on Tuesday was played behind closed doors.

City surrendered a commanding 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 in the Russian capital, with the result representing a huge blow to the Premier League champions' hopes of progressing to the knockout stages of the competition.

It means City have collected just two points from their opening three Group E matches, with a disappointed Kompany frustrated that a stadium ban for CSKA supporters after they were found guilty of making racist taunts meant City fans were also denied the chance to follow their team in Moscow.

"It is little things like, there aren't meant to be any fans there, but there are still 500 fans there for [CSKA]," Kompany told Sky Sports News. "That isn't a problem, but I don't understand where our fans are. Why can't we bring our fans in?

"The only team being punished here is Manchester City. Little things where I feel we need to speak up sometimes, because it's nonsense. They are the team that got done for racism, not Man City, so why can't our fans come?"

Kompany was not be drawn on City's ongoing problems in the Champions League, as their failure to convert domestic form onto the European stage continue to be a problem for Manuel Pellegrini and his players.

"This leaves a lot of bad feelings," said Kompany as he reflected on the 2-2 stalemate. "I guess at the moment everyone wants to hear how we think we should have done better and how we feel our performances need to be better in Europe, but I won't play a part in it."
