Dortmund shrug off Bayern Munich interest in signing Marco Reus

Borussia Dortmund CEO Aki Watzke insists "there nothing more to say" about Bayern Munich's interest in Germany international Marco Reus.

Bayern have stepped up their interest in Dortmund attacker Reus of late, with his former BVB teammate Mario Gotze -- who joined the Bundesliga champions in a 37 million-euro transfer in 2013 -- saying he would welcome his friend at Munich.

Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge suggested last week that Bayern are obliged to target talented players, and now says they will consider a bid for Reus.

"I have to be fair and square about this -- we'll discuss it internally and make a decision," Rummenigge said about triggering Reus' 25 million-euro release clause next summer.

"At the end of the day, the player also has to decide. We all know about the clause, and I don't want to say more about."

Speaking to reporters early on Tuesday, Watzke shrugged off the reports and refused to comment on the latest remarks from Bayern.

"He [Rummenigge] is like that. And there is nothing more to say about this," Watzke said according to Bild.

Meanwhile, local media in the Ruhr-Area has hit out at Rummenigge. "You don't always have to do everything that's [legitimate]. In the case of Reus it might have been better to remain silent," Der Westen commented, and urged Rummenigge to return to fair play.

"He could have also said that Bayern want to sign Marco Reus by all means -- and would have killed two birds with one stone," Ruhr Nachrichten commented. "Prying the linchpin away from Dortmund again after Gotze and [Robert] Lewandowski. It's already clear that Bayern have won the arms race, you just have to look at the Bundesliga standings."

Jurgen Klopp's side have endured a frustrating start to the season after picking up just seven points from eight games, while Pep Guardiola's team lead the Bundesliga by four points.
