Cesc Fabregas pleased with the Chelsea style of football

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas believes the brand of football being promoted by his manager Jose Mourinho perfectly fits the identity of the players in the Blues squad.

Seven wins from their first eight Premier League matches have allowed Chelsea to open up a commanding five-point lead at the top of the table, with Saturday's 2-1 win at Crystal Palace evidence of progress being made by Mourinho's revamped side.

A misfiring Chelsea lost against Palace at Selhurst Park last March, but the level of control the Blues had in the game on Saturday confirmed they are a more complete team now, with the goal Fabregas scored with the help of Eden Hazard and Oscar evidence of a rebranded philosophy for Mourinho's side.

"I like to play this kind of football and Eden [Hazard] and Oscar do as well," Fabregas told the Chelsea website.

"The three of us connect very well and that goal showed well the qualities of the whole team.

"Now I am playing deeper in midfield there will be moments during the season when maybe I go five or six games without a goal or an assist, and I am more proud about the team work, the discipline, the way work together than my goals or my assists. I give those to other people to talk about."

Fabregas has quickly become a key component of the Chelsea side following his move from Barcelona last summer, with the special treatment afforded to him by Palace confirming as much.

"They were man-marking me, basically the whole first half following me, so it was difficult for me to get into positions with the ball," he added.

"I was trying to get my player away from the game and Oscar could come deep and have more time on the ball. It was difficult because of this reason, but apart from that I think 80 percent of the game was ours."
