Borussia Dortmund's Erik Durm suffers injury before Cologne loss

Borussia Dortmund saw defender Erik Durm suffer a thigh injury in the warm-up before the 2-1 defeat to Cologne.

Saturday's match -- which represented a fourth defeat in five games for Dortmund -- saw Ilkay Gundogan make a first appearance in 14 months, while Marco Reus and Henrikh Mkhitaryan also returned to fitness.

However, Reus was only thrust into the starting lineup after fellow Germany international Durm suffered a setback ahead of the kick-off.

"Out of nowhere he felt a tightness in his thigh," Klopp said on the club's official website. "He tried again but then signalled that he could not play and we were forced to replace him."

Klopp also expressed frustration with his team's performance as they slumped to 14th in the table, just two points clear of relegation trouble after eight games.

"We played a type of football that makes absolutely no sense," he said. "Our pass completion rate was poor in the first half and we made simple mistakes that, although they can be explained for a variety of reasons, should not happen.

"We made it too easy for our opponents. We have to stop making errors. Not tomorrow -- not tomorrow, but now!"
