Yaya Toure not worried by Ebola, Manuel Pellegrini says

MANCHESTER -- Yaya Toure is not concerned about the threat of the Ebola virus, despite travelling regularly to west Africa on international duty, his manager said.

Manchester City midfielder Toure returned from his native Ivory Coast after playing against DR Congo in an African Nations Cup qualifier.

However, manager Manuel Pellegrini is unworried that the vice-captain could contract the deadly virus, which has killed more than 4,000 people.

He said in a news conference: "Really we are not concerned about it. Yaya is not concerned either. I suppose he is sure about that -- I don't think he will have any problems."

Newcastle have said they will screen striker Papiss Cisse and midfielder Cheik Tiote on their return from Africa but Pellegrini was unsure if City are adopting the same precautions.

He added: "I don't know if he was screened but for the moment he's OK."

City's two Serbia internationals Matija Nastasic and Aleksandar Kolarov played in the match against Albania, which was abandoned after a drone carrying a "Greater Albania" flag led to a brawl and crowd trouble.

"Of course it was not a good experience for them," Pellegrini added. "It's very difficult to be involved in those kinds of incidents. We will see what happens in the future, but it was a very bad thing for football, in both a political sense and football sense."

Midfielder Samir Nasri, who has not featured since the 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich after undergoing groin surgery, is set to return to first-team training soon.

Pellegrini said: "He is recovering from his injury. I don't know exactly [when] but at the end of next week he will start working with the team again."

The Chilean also shrugged off fears that midfielder Fernandinho's hamstring problem will keep him out of Saturday's game against Tottenham, adding: "He is fit."
