David Moyes: I'm ready to get back into management with the right club

David Moyes has told the BBC that he is ready to return to management after lasting less than a full season at Manchester United.

Moyes was endorsed by former Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson when he left Everton after 11 years to take over at the Premier League champions.

But he left Old Trafford in April with United floundering in their title defence. The Red Devils eventually finished seventh, failing to qualify for Europe in what was their worst season of the Premier League era.

Moyes said he now felt prepared to get back into management and told BBC sports editor Dan Roan that he wanted to make sure he did so in a job that was right for him.

"I have enjoyed the time off, but I have got to wait on the right job and make sure it's one that I want," he said.

"I'm really ambitious. I would never have left Everton FC for anybody but an ambitious football club, and I thought Manchester United would have given me that opportunity.

"It didn't materialise that way, so I am hoping that the next club I join gives me the chance to build a team, because I think that is what I am good at. I also think that I am good at spotting and identifying young players -- not only young players, but players."

He explained that he had already been approached about jobs, adding: "At this moment in time, the clubs that have come calling I just felt weren't right.

"I will know when the right club comes along and I needed a little bit of time just to make sure that I am ready, and I am feeling good to go back."

In an interview with the Sunday Telegraph, Moyes said he would be open to the idea of managing overseas.

"If it's abroad then I'm OK with that," he told the paper. "I have always been an advocate of players and coaches going abroad if that's the right opportunity. It doesn't happen -- not enough, anyway.

"You look at how well Terry Venables did in Spain and how well Bobby Robson did -- they are up there with the great managers and both had periods working in Europe."
