Fabian Johnson, Julian Green return to Bundesliga club training

U.S. internationals Fabian Johnson and Julian Green have returned to club training ahead of the new round of Bundesliga football until the international break in mid-November.

Green, 19, was sent home to train with his club Hamburger SV by USMNT head coach Jurgen Klinsmann during the recent run of friendlies. The midfielder trained with the Americans early last week, but Klinsmann opted to allow him to return to Germany to recover from an injury sustained in HSV team training.

Bruised ribs already ruled Green out of the recent Bundesliga matches with Hamburg, for whom he last came off the bench against Bayern Munich in mid-September.

"It makes more sense to fly back, pick up the training right away and break into that team," Klinsmann said about the youngster, who currently plies his trade at Hamburg, where he is on a one-year-loan from FC Bayern Munich.

Green resumed training with his club on Tuesday.

"It feels OK again. But I am still not at 100 percent," he told the official Hamburg website. On Wednesday, the youngster played in a training match between Hamburg's first team and the club's under-23.

Elsewhere, Fabian Johnson has also resumed team training at Borussia Monchengladbach. Achilles tendon problems had ruled the right-back, who still has to find his place at his new club, out of the U.S. friendlies.

But the 26-year-old, who joined Gladbach from Hoffenheim ahead of the season, was out on the pitch again on Tuesday. And speaking to the official club website Johnson said that "he felt fine again," but added that "we need to keep an eye on the problem, because you always have to be careful with the Achilles tendon."
