Danny Welbeck fit to play for Arsenal against Hull City - sources

Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck is expected to be fit to play in Saturday's Premier League game against Hull City, sources have told ESPN FC.

England manager Roy Hodgson suggested Welbeck, 23, had "turned his ankle" in the 1-0 Euro 2016 qualifying win against Estonia in Tallinn on Sunday, with the player having to be replaced by Rickie Lambert in the closing stages of the game.

Hodgson, however, downplayed the severity of the injury afterwards and sources say Arsenal are confident the former Manchester United man will be ready to start against Hull at Emirates Stadium.

Gunners manager Arsene Wenger will be relieved to have Welbeck available as Olivier Giroud is still some way from making a return as he recovers from a foot injury, while Theo Walcott has only just returned to full training for the first time since January.

Walcott is unlikely to feature much in Arsenal's next few matches, but Wenger is hopeful the winger will be back to full fitness by the end of the month.

Arsenal are in the midst of an injury crisis with Mesut Ozil and Laurent Koscielny having had to withdraw from international duty last week. Ozil is set to face up to four months on the sidelines, joining the likes of Aaron Ramsey, captain Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Debuchy.

Tomas Rosicky, meanwhile, did not feature in Czech Republic's 4-2 Euro 2016 qualifying win over Kazakhstan on Monday after suffering a calf problem against Turkey on Friday.

Rosicky, who has made just one start and five substitute appearances for Arsenal this term, told ceskatelevize.cz: "I couldn't do any sharp movement, couldn't sprint. If I tried to play in one tempo, I wouldn't make any difference for the team.

"I'll come back to London and we'll see. The doctor said I have something swollen between the muscles.''
