Guingamp goalkeeper Mamadou Samassa has been given a five-game ban by the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) for intimidating a referee.
Samassa, 24, was sent off for dissent during his team's 2-1 Ligue 1 loss to Montpellier on Sept. 27, and was given the hefty suspension by the LFP's Disciplinary Commission for behaviour "constituting intimidation towards the referee [Philippe Kalt]," according to L'Equipe.
The Mali international, who has already sat out one of the games, will now miss his side's matches against Lille, Nice, Bastia and Lyon.
He will, however, be available for the Coupe de France holders' Europa League tie at Dinamo Minsk on Oct. 23 as the ban only applies to domestic competition.
Guingamp teammate Benjamin Angoua, who physically attempted to prevent Kalt from showing the red card to Samassa, will appear before the commission on Oct. 16 to learn whether he will be punished for his actions.
