Xherdan Shaqiri to weigh up his future with Bayern Munich in January

Xherdan Shaqiri has said he will reconsider his future at Bayern Munich in January, while adding that he has not always felt trusted by coach Pep Guardiola.

Shaqiri, 22, considered leaving Bayern in the summer, only for the Bundesliga champions to tell him that he was not allowed to move away from the Allianz Arena.

A number of clubs such as Liverpool and Juventus were linked with the Switzerland international, but Bayern made it clear they were not looking to sell.

However, just seven weeks into the new Bundesliga season and Shaqiri is starting to become impatient with his lack of first-team opportunities.

The midfielder has only started three league games, while coming off the bench twice. He also made a brief appearance in the final minutes of Bayern's 1-0 win at CSKA Moscow in the Champions League.

"I wanted more game time in the summer, we all know that. We sat down with FC Bayern and talked," Shaqiri, who is currently with the Switzerland national team, told Neue Zurcher Zeitung.

"The message was quite clear: I have to stay. I accepted that. We will sit down in the winter again, and take it from there. It's always of interest to play at a top club. And I have a long-term contract until 2016, and I will try to fulfill it."

Shaqiri, who will turn 23 on Friday, is currently in his third season at Bayern. In his debut campaign, he made a total of 38 appearances in all competitions, but was limited to 23 in Guardiola's first season last term.

"The most important thing to help put in good performances is to have good contact with the coach, and to feel his trust. That was not always the case with me. I need this trust and games to show myself and perform well," Shaqiri said. "That's why I wanted more game time in the summer. I was ready to try something new."

Elsewhere, Bayern midfielder Thiago Alcantara returned to team training on Thursday.

The midfielder tore ligaments in his knee in a Bundesliga game in March and suffered another ligament tear when working on his comeback in May.

Franck Ribery is also "making good progress towards a comeback," Bayern announced on their official website.

The former France international has made only one brief appearance as a substitute this season, but has now returned to individual training with the ball following "a painful swelling around the kneecap."
