Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey set for month on sidelines with hamstring injury

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is likely to be out "for about a month" with the hamstring injury he picked up against Tottenham on Saturday, Arsenal officials have told ESPN.

The Welsh midfielder immediately signalled that he needed to be replaced as he went down injured just before half-time in the 1-1 North London derby draw and now it has been confirmed that he damaged his hamstring in the incident.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had already ruled Ramsey out of Wednesday's Champions League tie against Galatasaray and Sunday's Premier League trip to Chelsea, but he will now face an extended period on the sidelines.

Ramsey will now miss the home game against Hull, the Champions League trip to Anderlecht and the Premier League clash against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light if he is ruled out for the month of October.

The news also comes as a hammer blow to Wales boss Chris Coleman, as his side prepare for crucial Euro 2016 qualifying matches against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Cyprus next month.

There were no injury updates on the fitness of Arsenal duo Jack Wilshere and Mikel Arteta, who also picked up injuries in the Tottenham game on Saturday, but both are major doubts for the Galatasaray game on Wednesday and the match at Chelsea.

The Gunners are already without defensive duo Mathieu Debuchy and Nacho Monreal following their injuries earlier this month, while Laurent Koscielny continues to nurse an Achilles problem.
