Real Madrid and AC Milan set for Dubai friendly in December

Real Madrid are set to face AC Milan in Dubai for a friendly match during the clubs' winter breaks in December.

- Rigg: Ronaldo a goal machine but Varane mighty for Madrid
- Paul: Inzaghi must build on steady Milan progress

The Spanish and Italian sides will take part in the 2014 Dubai Football Challenge at the The Sevens Stadium on Dec. 30 in the United Arab Emirates.

The match will mark Madrid's first appearance in the UAE, while Milan have already visited three times for friendlies against Hamburg (2009), Al Ahli (2011) and Paris Saint-Germain (2012).

Former Madrid player Emilio Butragueno and Milan legend Franco Baresi attended a press conference for the announcement of the game.

Hamad Mohammed Bin Mejren of the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing told Real's official website: "We welcome two footballing giants. Not only has 2014 been a record year for football, but also for our city, which is incredibly proud to be playing host to Real Madrid and AC Milan. Dec. 30 is a very exciting date for Dubai."

The match may potentially alarm fans who are wary of their sides picking up fatigue and injuries during their winter break period, though the trip will boost both club's finances as they look to expand their commercial reach into new territories.

Emirates are sponsors of both clubs, having backed Milan since 2010 and Madrid since 2013.
