Man City's Samir Nasri out for a month, needs groin surgery

Samir Nasri has been ruled out for a month as the Manchester City midfielder is set to undergo surgery on a groin injury.

The France international, who has not featured since the 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich earlier this month, is set to sit out City's next six matches, including the Champions League clashes with Roma and CSKA Moscow.

And manager Manuel Pellegrini has admitted it is a major blow to lose Nasri, who scored 11 goals for City last season.

He said in a news conference: "It's serious because he will have surgery in the next days. I'm not a doctor but he will be out for around one month. He was training but he wasn't 100 percent and he wasn't comfortable with what he was doing so the doctor decided it was the best option."

In Nasri's absence, Pellegrini can perm from David Silva, Jesus Navas and James Milner on the flanks and said he will not complain about the former Arsenal player's injury.

He added: "Of course he's a very important player for us and it's not easy for us to play without Samir but I never give excuses about players that, for different reasons, are not in our squad. We have an important squad."

City, who visit Hull on Saturday, have only won one of their last five games but Pellegrini said the only result he regrets is August's 1-0 home defeat to Stoke.

He added: "If I review the season, the only mistake was to lose against Stoke. [If we had] maybe three points more we would have 11 points from 15 and that's a good amount. "To play away at Bayern Munich and lose in the last minute to one goal is normal. That can happen.

"Against Arsenal we drew 2-2 playing away, playing very well. Really I think we have started better than in the first two games but we have a problem because we dropped three points against Stoke at home but I think that we are in a normal performance, not our best, but normal."
