Mirko Vucinic scored a second-half hat-trick as Al-Jazira moved top of the Arabian Gulf League following a comfortable 3-0 home win over Al-Emirates.
The Montenegro international was on target with a 62nd-minute penalty, before doubling his tally five minutes later. He sealed the win for the hosts with his third goal in the 75th minute.
Vucinic joined Al-Jazira from Italian giants Juventus in July on a three-year contract.
The 30-year-old, who scored a total of 96 goals in 304 Serie A appearances, was on the verge of joining Inter Milan in a swap deal for Fredy Guarin during the last winter break before that move collapsed.
This is the first time he is playing outside Europe.
In another game on Thursday night, Fujairah SC and Al-Dhafra played out a goalless draw.
