Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp out for 12 weeks

Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp will miss up to 12 weeks because of an ankle injury which needs surgery.

Trapp hurt his left ankle in a 2-2 draw with Mainz in the Bundesliga on Tuesday.

The keeper was due to have an operation on Thursday.

Eintracht are in the middle of the standings with one win, one loss and three defeats.

The 24-year-old Trapp has represented Germany at youth level, including 11 appearances for the nation's star-studded under-21 side.

He joined Eintracht on a four-year contract in 2012 after his former club Kaiserslautern were relegated from the German top-flight.
