Wesley Sneijder welcomes Man United link but not expecting move

Galatasaray midfielder Wesley Sneijder says he is flattered by reports suggesting Louis van Gaal wants to take him to Manchester United but believes a move to Old Trafford is unlikely.

Sneijder, who was part of Van Gaal's Dutch side at the World Cup and was a target for United during Sir Alex Ferguson's reign, but feels the Turkish club would be unlikely to let him leave.

The 30-year-old was one of 10 Netherlands internationals who were linked with United over the summer, but only Daley Blind -- a stalwart of the side who finished third in the World Cup -- joined the Premier League club.

"It is great to hear that Van Gaal is interested in me, he is a footballing genius," Sneijder told Turkish station AMK. "However I doubt Manchester United could tempt me to leave Galatasaray right now, I don't see it happening.

"Everything is going well for me in Istanbul and I have settled into life in Turkey and feel at home. I don't even know why we keep talking about this.

"Galatasaray will not be letting me go for a cheap price. It is very unlikely that any deal will happen."

Despite Sneijder's assertions, United are well-stocked for attacking midfielders after the arrival of Angel Di Maria.

Former Real Madrid man Sneijder joined Galatasaray from Inter Milan in 2013 and helped them win the Turkish Cup last year.
