AC Milan boss Filippo Inzaghi stays quiet on Silvio Berlusconi comment

AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi has declined to respond to the words of his club president Silvio Berlusconi, who said Saturday's defeat to Juventus would not have happened if people had listened to him.

Following the 1-0 Serie A loss at the San Siro -- in which Carlos Tevez scored the game's only goal -- Berlusconi told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "Well, if they don't do what I tell them..."

However, having spent the last 13 years as one of the 77-year-old's employees as a player and coach, Inzaghi knows Berlusconi is untouchable within the club.

"You never pass comment on what the president says," Inzaghi told a news conference on Monday. "He called me a little while ago and he expressed his desire, his courage and his energy. There are no problems with him. The president gives us lots of ideas, but we can't always do everything straightaway.

"I would have loved to have rewarded him and our fantastic fans with victory [over Juventus], but they are on fire. They want to win the Champions League and have not conceded since April 28. The mere fact that we felt we could harm them shows how far we have come in these two months.

"We showed we are not far away from them, but now we need some consistency in our results to grow further. I'm convinced my team will slowly but surely give a lot of joy to the fans."

Inzaghi is set to hand Fernando Torres his full debut in Tuesday night's Serie A encounter with Empoli.

Torres, on loan from Chelsea, came on during Saturday's defeat and is now set to feature from the start.

"Torres seems ready, as does [Marco] van Ginkel" Inzaghi said. "I have seven forwards and I'm really spoilt for choice. Torres is a pure centre-forward who gives you depth, like [Giampaolo] Pazzini, and I'll assess the best way to use him.

"If the team were more settled, then probably I could use more attackers, but we have to evaluate it game by game. We have the best attack in the league."
