Sam Allardyce: No luck about 'brilliant' West Ham win over Liverpool

Manager Sam Allardyce hailed an "absolutely brilliant" West Ham display as they stunned Liverpool 3-1 at Upton Park on Saturday.

Early goals from Winston Reid and Diafra Sakho set the Hammers on their way and though the in-form Raheem Sterling pulled one back for Brendan Rodgers' side, Morgan Amalfitano poked home a late clincher for the hosts.

"It couldn't be better, against one of big boys," Allardyce told Sky Sports 1. "It's a well-deserved victory -- it's not a lucky one, it's not Liverpool having an off day, it's West Ham being absolutely brilliant on the day.

"I thought the first-half performance was absolutely outstanding, in actual fact I thought we should have been three or four up by half-time.

"We knew Liverpool would come back at some stage but it was a good defensive performance then as well.

"We've got lots of new lads, they're bedding in very nicely and producing lots of good performances."

Sakho, who was awarded West Ham's second goal against Hull on Monday by the Premier League's dubious goals panel, scored with a delicate chip inside the far post to put his side two up inside seven minutes.

It initially looked as though he may have been intending to cross to strike partner Enner Valencia, but replays suggested otherwise and Allardyce was in no doubt.

"It's an outstanding piece of individual ability from Sakho," he added. "I don't think anyone could take the quality of that finish away from him.

"He would say 100 percent yes [he meant it] -- he was delighted to get the goal at Hull City from the dubious goals panel as well, so he's got two in two.

"He's gone under the radar a bit, unlike Enner Valencia who had a great World Cup, and they both look a real threat."
