Bayern Munich held by Hamburg, Borussia Dortmund lose at Mainz

Bayern Munich dropped points in the Bundesliga for the second time this season, with Hamburg picking up only their second with a goalless draw in Josef Zinnbauer's first game in charge.

Zinnbauer will have been more than encouraged by his side's performance, with the northern Germany side also close to winning the game on several occasions.

Manuel Neuer was the busier of the two goalkeepers and Bayern will have been happy to come away with a share of the spoils.

Mainz moved up to third in the table on Saturday night with a 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund, who were brought crashing back down to earth after their Champions League win over Arsenal.

Shinji Okazaki gave Kasper Hjulmand's men the lead midway through the second half and Ciro Immobile missed a penalty, conceded by Okazaki, before Matthias Ginter put through his own goal to complete Mainz's victory.

Dortmund were a shadow of the side who beat the Gunners so impressively on Tuesday, and their second defeat of the season was the result as Mainz moved above them into a group of four teams on eight points.

Schalke, meanwhile, came from two goals down to draw 2-2 at home to Eintracht Frankfurt in a game which saw three players sent off.

Alexander Meier marked his first league start of the season by opening the scoring for the visitors and Marco Russ extended their lead midway through the first half.

A questionable penalty, converted by Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting, brought the Royal Blues back into the game just before half-time, though, and Julian Draxler headed them level five minutes after the break.

Schalke then lost Kevin-Prince Boateng to a second yellow card before Draxler was given his marching orders with a straight red.

An incredible 80-yard goal from Moritz Stoppelkamp continued Paderborn's dream start to life in the top flight as the East Westphalians defeated Hannover 2-0.

The former Hannover player scored an early contender for goal of the season with the last kick of the game to maintain the league newcomers' unbeaten start to their first ever season in the Bundesliga. Earlier, Elias Kachunga put Andre Breitenreiter's men in front against a Hannover side who tasted defeat for the first time this campaign.

Augsburg inflicted a first defeat of the season on Werder Bremen after recovering from an early deficit to win 4-2.

Davie Selke gave the visitors the lead but Daniel Baier levelled soon after and Paul Verhaegh put Augsburg in front with a penalty just before half-time.

Another penalty, converted by Franco Di Santo, brought Bremen back on terms in the 57th minute, but Tobias Werner headed in with just over 10 minutes remaining before Tim Matavz added a fourth to lift Markus Weinzierl's men into the top half of the table.

Stuttgart dropped to the bottom of the standings after losing the Baden-Wurttemberg derby with Hoffenheim 2-0 at the Mercedes-Benz-Arena.

Anthony Modeste and Tarik Elyounoussi earned Hoffenheim more than just bragging rights against their near rivals, who could barely be any further away from them now in the league standings.

With no points and no goals from four games this season, Armin Veh has a lot of work to do for Stuttgart, whose next opponents are Borussia Dortmund.
