Wednesday's Champions League match between Roma and CSKA Moscow was briefly suspended in the second half due to fan violence. With Roma leading 5-0, CSKA supporters began throwing flares at Roma fans and riot police had to intervene. The match was stopped for approximately two minutes in 71st before it resumed with police taking control from the stadium officials. There were also reports of skirmishes between opposing fans outside the stadium before kick-off. CSKA pulled a goal back with the match finishing 5-1 to Serie A club. The Russian side will likely to face further punishment, following the latest incident. CSKA have already been forced to play their upcoming Champions League match against Bayern behind closed doors after its supporters displayed racist and far-right symbols in the Czech Republic during a 2-1 loss to Viktoria Plzen during last season's Champions League, when it lost all three away games. CSKA was also fined 50,000 euros after being warned previously for racist fan abuse during an October home game against Manchester City.
