Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha sees future at Manchester United

Wilfried Zaha has said he is determined to use his loan spell at Crystal Palace as a springboard to revive his Manchester United career.

The England winger rejoined his first club in a season-long switch but hopes to prove he has a future at Old Trafford.

Zaha, who scored on his second Palace debut in the 3-3 draw at Newcastle and started again in Saturday's goalless stalemate with Burnley, said he was relieved to finally experience first-team football.

"I signed for a couple of years at United, so the goal is to do my best here for the season and go back and make sure I get back into the team and the England setup," he told reporters.

"It is just great to be playing again. There is nothing like being out on the pitch and the crowd singing your name. It [not having been playing] was a bit frustrating. What am I doing if I am not playing?"

Zaha was Sir Alex Ferguson's final signing as United manager, but was loaned back to Palace for the remainder of the 2012-13 season.

The 21-year-old was only given two substitute appearances in the Premier League by David Moyes and, after an unsuccessful loan spell at relegated Cardiff, was allowed to leave Old Trafford again by new manager Louis van Gaal.

He said he was pleased that Neil Warnock is picking him for Palace, adding: "I know how everything works here and the gaffer just wants to give me game-time and wants me to improve, so I am just glad I am back.

"Sir Alex Ferguson was the person who bought me. He left, and people have different points of view on players.

"I thought about leaving a while. Then I thought: 'Let's stay and prove how I can play to the new manager.' He felt it was best for me to go on loan and it was best for me to come home."
