LYON, France -- France striker Alexandre Lacazette has signed a 2-year contract extension with Lyon that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2017-18 season.
Lacazette, who has been nurtured by the seven-time French champions since he was a 10-year-old, has scored 42 goals in 154 matches with Lyon.
"It's a great moment," the striker told Lyon's official site. "It is a sign of confidence from the club. Now, we can stop talking about that."
Club president Jean-Michel Aulas added: "It is a positive and important moment for the club.
"This signature fits with our policy of producing our own players. Alexandre Lacazette carries our hopes with the France team.
"He has handled the discussion about his future in a mature and intelligent way."
Earlier this summer, Lacazette had been linked to moves to Arsenal or Liverpool, but said he had no intention of leaving Lyon.
The 23-year-old forward scored 15 goals last season but did not make the World Cup squad.
Lacazette, who has three international caps, featured in France's 1-1 draw against Serbia last week in a friendly after being called up as cover for the injured Olivier Giroud.
