Brendan Rodgers helps Javier Manquillo settle at Liverpool

Liverpool defender Javier Manquillo says he found it easier to adjust to life at Anfield because of Brendan Rodgers' ability to speak Spanish.

Manquillo, who signed on a season-long loan from Atletico Madrid this summer, admitted it had been an easy transition from the Spanish capital with many of his compatriots already at the club.

"I get on very well with the manager here. He helps us with everything he can, which is great," Manquillo told the club's official website. "He also speaks Spanish fluently too, so it's really easy for us to communicate.

"I have some fellow Spanish teammates with me over here too -- Alberto Moreno, Suso and Jose Enrique are all here and there are some others in the squad who speak Spanish too, it's been really easy for me to adapt."

The 20-year-old impressed on his debut in Liverpool's Premier League opening win against Southampton and also enjoyed a solid performance in their victory against Tottenham at White Hart Lane before the international break.

While it has taken time to adapt to life in a different country, Manquillo says he is happy to stay now he is feeling more at home.

"I'm very happy to stay here," Manquillo added. "There's some things I miss about home -- the weather is the main one -- but I'm getting accustomed to things here more and more every day."
