Villarreal and Mexico forward Giovani Dos Santos suffered an iliotibial band injury to his left leg during El Tri's 0-0 draw with Chile in a friendly this past Saturday and is out indefinitely, Villarreal announced on Tuesday.
Dos Santos left the pitch injured during the friendly and underwent tests at his home club, which confirmed the injury.
"Recovery time for football players is determined based on their progress," the Villarreal injury report read.
Dos Santos won't see action for Mexico vs. Bolivia on Tuesday in Denver.
Slovenian defender Bojan Jokic underwent arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday and is also out for Villarreal as is forward Ikechukwu Uche and Jaume Costa, the club said in its injury report.
