Chelsea striker Diego Costa has withdrawn from Spain's squad to face Macedonia, with young Barcelona forward Munir El Haddadi replacing him.

Costa struggled as Spain lost to a second-half goal from France's Loic Remy in a friendly on Thursday and it has now been revealed that suffered a hamstring injury.

The Spanish Football Federation confirmed the left hamstring injury on Friday, stating: "All the MRI tests done will be sent to Chelsea's medical teams which have already been in contact with the federation medical services."

The 19-year-old Munir has played just two official matches with the Barcelona team, both in La Liga. Versus Elche, in which he scored a goal, and against Villarreal. He played on Thursday against Hungary for Spain's under-21 side.

Spain's national team made the announcement via Twitter on Friday.
