Crystal Palace complete signing of James McArthur from Wigan

Crystal Palace have signed Scotland international midfielder James McArthur from Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed sum reported to be a club record fee.

McArthur, 26, has signed a three-year contract with the Eagles, who earlier on Monday announced the capture of versatile defender Zeki Fryers from Tottenham.

It has been reported that the fee for McArthur will surpass the record fee paid to Peterborough United for Dwight Gayle in July 2013 -- also undisclosed -- and he becomes the sixth new arrival at Selhurst Park this summer.

The midfielder, capped 15 times for Scotland, spent four years at Wigan following his transfer from Hamiton Academicals in July 2010, represented the Latics in the Europa League and the 2013 FA Cup Final win over Manchester City.

McArthur will join his new teammates after the international break. He is part of Gordon Strachan's squad for the opening Euro 2016 qualifier against Germany later this week.
