Hernandez -- who is seen as a replacement for Shane Long following his move to Southampton -- has penned a three-year contract, with the Tigers having the option of a fourth year.

The Uruguay international scored 14 goals last season as Palermo gained promotion back to Serie A, and Hull boss Steve Bruce is looking forward to working with the player.

"Abel is a fantastic signing and highlights just how far the club has come in such a short space of time," he told Hull's official website. "He is an exciting talent and like myself, I'm sure the supporters can't wait to see him in action."

Hernandez, who spent five seasons with Palermo, has scored seven goals in 14 caps for Uruguay.

His arrival at the KC Stadium follows on from the exit of George Boyd, who was sold to Burnley earlier on Monday.
