Valencia appeal Rodrigo De-Paul ban

Valencia have appealed against Rodrigo de Paul's four-match ban.

The Argentine winger was charged with violent conduct by the disciplinary committee of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) after being sent off on his Primera Division debut in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Sevilla.

De Paul was shown a straight red card for elbowing Sevilla's Aleix Vidal just one minute after coming on as a second-half substitute.

A statement from Valencia read: "Valencia CF will launch an appeal to the RFEF in what the club considers to be a disproportionate and unfair ban.

"The referee never considered the action to be a violent one while the Committee has done so.

"Valencia CF wants to prove its full trust towards our player Rodrigo de Paul, a young footballer, by no means aggressive, and who has never in his sporting career been in a situation like this one before.''

Twenty-year-old De Paul, who joined Valencia from Argentinian side Racing Club in the summer, will miss Los Che's La Liga games against Malaga, Espanyol, Getafe and Real Sociedad unless his ban is reduced.
