Real Madrid 're-activate Falcao chase'

Radamel Falcao has met with his agent, Jorge Mendes, to discuss his future at Monaco after Real Madrid "re-activated" their interest in the Colombia striker, according to reports in France and Spain.

Falcao has entered the second year of his five-year contract with Monaco following his big-money move from Atletico Madrid last summer. The 28-year-old said after he scored the only goal in Sunday's 1-0 win at Lorient: "I'm very happy to be here. It's a pleasure to play in this team, and I hope to stay here."

However, French outlet RMC reports that Falcao met with Mendes -- who also represents Real stars Cristiano Ronaldo and James Rodriguez and brokered Angel Di Maria's move to Manchester United -- to talk over a potential move back to the European champions, with whom he has been strongly and consistently linked.

Following Di Maria's move to Old Trafford for a British record fee of 59.7 million pounds, the European champions have the necessary funds available to match what Monaco paid for Falcao.

Mendes, who reportedly dined with his client on Tuesday evening, will meet Monaco officials to settle the future of the forward who scored nine goals in 17 Ligue 1 appearances last term before a knee injury ended his season in January.

Madrid-based sports daily AS reports that Mendes, Monaco owner Dmitry Rybolovlev and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez will all be in Monte Carlo on Thursday the attend the draw for the group stage of the Champions League, and that the trio could use that opportunity to discuss what it calls "Operation Falcao."
