Hull City have completed the signing of defender Michael Dawson from Tottenham for an undisclosed fee.

Dawson, 30, has brought an end to his nine-and-a-half-year association with Spurs by penning a three-year deal with the Tigers.

Dawson, who will wear the No. 21 shirt, was deemed surplus to requirements by Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino, with the likes of Jan Vertonghen and Younes Kaboul preferred instead.

Tigers manager Steve Bruce confirmed on Sunday that a deal had been agreed "in principle" for the centre-back after his side's 1-1 draw with Stoke.

"It's up to me to bring two or three in -- we're close to one in particular and we hope we can get that over the line," Bruce said.

"Michael Dawson we hope we can get. There's a deal in place in principle anyway. Hopefully, touch wood we'll see what develops."

Dawson, who started his career at Nottingham Forest, is the sixth player to sign for Hull this summer following the arrivals of Tom Ince, Jake Livermore, Robert Snodgrass, Andrew Robertson and Harry Maguire.
