Luiz Gustavo Arsenal rumours 'fantasy'

Luiz Gustavo will not leave Wolfsburg, his agent has told local paper WAZ amid ongoing rumours of a possible move to Arsenal.

On Monday, The Mirror linked Brazil international Gustavo with a move to the Gunners, stating that Arsene Wenger sent his scouts to Wolfsburg's first game of the season against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.

With Arsenal's priority shifting towards a defensive-minded midfielder, they have reportedly turned their attention to the former Bayern man once again after Bundesliga side beat the Gunners to the signature of the 27-year-old during the final days of the 2013 summer transfer window.

Gustavo was linked with a transfer away from Wolfsburg until the end of July, when the midfielder was able to trigger a 35 million euros release clause in his contract running until 2018.

The English paper reported that Gustavo could be part of a swap deal with Arsenal attacker Lukas Podolski heading towards the Europa League participants -- but his agent and the club have rubbished those claims.

"I don't know who brings those rumours up, some people just have too much fantasy," Wolfsburg sporting executive Klaus Allofs said about the report in local paper WAZ.

"Luiz has decided to stay at Wolfsburg. End of discussion," Gustavo's agent Roger Wittmann told the same paper.
