Swansea City midfielder Ki Sung-yueng has said he wants to sign a new contract with the Liberty Stadium club.

- Swans bring Carroll from Spurs on loan

South Korea international Ki, who spent last season on loan at Sunderland, has starred in his side's opening two Premier League wins of the season, scoring in the 2-1 victory at Manchester United.

And after appearing to be surplus to requirements under former manager Michael Laudrup, he is thriving under the stewardship of Garry Monk.

He told the South Wales Evening Post: "I'm in negotiations. It would be great to stay here.

"The way we play football is very suitable, so I think I can maybe expect to extend my contract. I'm very pleased with every start, which I can learn something from."

Ki had been linked with a return to Sunderland and also a move to Aston Villa, but said: "I decided to stay because I know these players can help me to be a better player."
