Cristiano Ronaldo 'fit to start'

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo trained without any problems ahead of Friday's Spanish Super Cup second-leg clash with Atletico Madrid having been substituted due to injury concerns in the first meeting on Tuesday, according to coach Carlo Ancelotti.

"He has trained well. He has gone through a regular session and is available for tomorrow," Ancelotti said during the prematch news conference on Thursday. "He can start."

Ancelotti took 22 players for training with only attacker Jese sat on the sidelines, according to the club's report.

The Italian coach had professed to be unworried over the unspecified injury which forced Ronaldo off at half-time of Tuesday's 1-1 draw at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu after another subdued showing.

Ronaldo had seemed back to full fitness when scoring twice in last week's UEFA Super Cup win against Sevilla, with concerns he had not fully recovered from the tendinosis issue in his left knee that affected him through the end of the 2013-14 campaign and at the World Cup.
