Cuadrado omitted from Viola squad

Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado has been left behind in Florence ahead of a preseason friendly against Real Madrid in Warsaw, although the club insist transfer speculation is not the official reason behind his absence.

Cuadrado, 26, has been linked with a move to Manchester United and Barcelona this summer, and his exclusion from the travelling party for Saturday night's clash with Madrid has only further fueled speculation he is set to leave.

However, the Viola justified their decision to leave the Colombia international behind by the fact that he is suspended for their first Serie A game of the season against Roma. Facundo Roncaglia, who is also suspended for the match on Aug. 30, has been left in Italy as well.

Fiorentina are resigned to losing the former Udinese player this summer, albeit only if their asking price is met.

They are believed to be demanding 40 million euros for Cuadrado -- a sum which is already reported to have put off United, leaving only Barca still interested in the player.

Meanwhile, Giuseppe Rossi has been forced to pull out of the Fiorentina squad travelling to Poland due to a thigh injury.

The Italy international missed most of last season with a serious knee problem -- which also cost him his place at the World Cup -- and his club have preferred not to take any risks.

The 27-year-old will instead undergo tests in Florence to establish the full extent of his injury, which is understood to be a muscular issue.
