Atletico Madrid midfielder Arda Turan could miss the start of the season after sustaining an injury during the club's preseason preparations.
The Turkey international picked up a thigh strain in the 0-0 draw against former club Galatasaray in Istanbul last week and consequently sat out the 5-1 win over Wolfsburg.
Diego Simeone's side trained on Wednesday morning at the Cerro del Espino training ground but Turan completed only one hour as he once again felt discomfort in his thigh after striking a ball at goal.
Turan is now a major doubt for Atletico Madrid's opening Liga tie away at Rayo Vallecano on August 25 while he is already suspended for the two-legged Spanish Super Cup tie against Real Madrid after picking up a red card against Barcelona last season.
There is some positive news for Atletico however as Mario Suarez has been discharged from hospital following the 'traumatic brain injury' he suffered against Wolfsburg on Sunday.
