Rodgers' transfer business not done

Brendan Rodgers said Liverpool's seven new players have integrated well into the squad, but with a month remaining in the transfer window, the club still has "some business to do."

Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Emre Can, Lazar Markovic, Dejan Lovren, Divock Origi and Kevin Stewart have all joined the Reds during the transfer window, but Rodgers said he's still looking for players who can fill "specific roles."

Speaking on Wednesday after the Reds beat Manchester City on penalties after finishing 90 minutes even at 2-2, Rodgers outlined Liverpool's transfer strategy this summer.

"We've brought in specific players for specific roles -- players who fit the profile of how we work," Rodgers said. "Of course it's going to take them a little more time than normal in terms of their induction.

"They showed their character to keep going and come back. We made some blocks tonight and defended and it was a real good game.

But Rodgers isn't done yet. With two and a half weeks before the season begins and a month to go before the transfer window closes, Liverpool could benefit from another full-back and more depth at forward, and Rodgers isn't shy about making more moves.

"We still have some pieces that we want to fill from the squad so that by the August we'll be strong," he said. "There's players to go forward with, so yeah, there's still some business to do."
