NYCFC acquires Andrew Jacobson

New York City FC has acquired midfielder Andrew Jacobson from FC Dallas in exchange for the club's top third-round pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft. The 28-year-old is the fifth player signed by New York City.

NYCFC's head coach, Jason Kreis, was happy to finally seal the move.

"I'm delighted to sign a player of Andrew's experience and quality as we continue to build our roster ahead of the 2015 season," he said. "He is a player my staff and I have liked for quite some time and we are thrilled to add such a versatile and competitive midfielder to our squad."

Jacobson becomes the second midfielder signed to the club after designated player Frank Lampard joined on a free transfer last week.

Spanish striker David Villa, goalkeeper Josh Saunders, and defender Jeb Brovsky are the other three players on the team.

The Palo Alto, California, native joins the club after three and a half seasons at FC Dallas in which he made 96 appearances and scored five goals. Before preseason begins in January 2015, Jacobson will go on loan to Stabaek Fotball in Norway, coached by former U.S. coach Bob Bradley.
