Herrera ready for Prem "luxury"

New Manchester United signing, Ander Herrera, has described the opportunity to play in the Premier League as a luxury.

In an exclusive interview with ESPN FC, the former Athletic Bilbao player paid tribute to the league in which he made his name before speaking of his excitement at testing himself in England.

"I come from La Liga," said Herrera. "The last Champion League finalists were from Spain, the Europa League champions were also from Spain. So we can't ignore that the La Liga is also a strong league, but the Premier League never stops growing, never stops improving and it's a luxury to play here."

Herrera also mentioned the Bundesliga's quality as he described what the Premier League has to offer.

"We can debate this for a long time but I believe that every league has its positive things. I believe the Premier League, when it comes to organization, scope, media, how the stadiums get full every game, I believe is the top league just like the Bundesliga; they are both the strongest leagues."

The 24-year-old midfielder believes he has the game to enhance to bolster a midfield which critics have highlighted as an area of weakness in the United squad.

"I like to have the ball at all times, I like to help my teammates create plays but I also like to finish them. Last year, I improved my goal count and the club wants me to offer myself to them, they want me to help create plays."

Herrera spoke of his desire to further his international career and believes that joining a squad which already features two Spanish internationals, Juan Mata and David De Gea, will be beneficial for him. Further, he likened his new manager, Louis van Gaal, to his former boss at Athletic Club, Marcelo Bielsa.

"The truth is that both are very demanding, very offensive and they always want their team to attack. They don't like for their team to speculate with the result, to speculate with the rival team. I think that I have being very lucky to have had Marcelo Bielsa and in the future I'm sure that I'll be able to say the same of Louis Van Gaal."

Herrera is relishing the chance to make his United debut on the pre-season tour of America and is expected to do so in California on Wednesday vs. the LA Galaxy.

"Here in the USA I will see what Manchester United represents, what people want to see. For me it's a pleasure and hopefully they will be able to enjoy the team and the games of this great club. To be part of this tour is like a dream, a beautiful opportunity and I'm going to take advantage."

Having signed for a fee in excess of 28 million pounds, the pressure is on Herrera to deliver immediately and he says he is ready for the challenge.

"It is a responsibility that goes in hand with the enthusiasm. We are part of the biggest club in the world and for us is a dream to be here. I'm going to take advantage, I'm going to try to enjoy it. I believe that the best way to achieve goals is to enjoy every single moment."
