Girard braces for Origi, Kalou exits

Lille manager Rene Girard says he is preparing for the new season in the knowledge that he could be without Liverpool target Divock Origi and fellow striker Salomon Kalou.

Liverpool have reportedly agreed a fee with Lille for Origi, 19, who is expected to be loaned back to the French club if the transfer is concluded.

Tottenham have reportedly shown an interest too, although Oirigi's father said that Liverpool remain the favourites to sign his son.

But Girard told L'Equipe that he is ready for anything when it comes to Origi and Kalou.

"We know that Salomon could leave at any moment," Girard said. "We know the situation with Divock. Whatever happens, there will be compensation."

Origi, who helped Belgium to the World Cup quarterfinals, is due back at training with Lille on Monday.

Kalou, 28, was part of an Ivory Coast side that did not make it past the group stages of the World Cup.

The former Chelsea forward, who has scored 30 league goals in two seasons since leaving England, failed to join up with his club as planned last Monday. He is now set to link up with the team on Thursday.

If they are still at the club, both Kalou and Origi are set to sit out the first leg of Lille's Champions League qualifier against Grasshopper Zurich.

Lille's two other World Cup players, Nigeria's Vincent Enyeama and France's Rio Mavuba, will also miss Tuesday's game in Switzerland.
