James Rodriguez goal voted WC's best

James Rodriguez's volley during Colombia's World Cup 2-0 victory over Uruguay has been voted Goal of the Tournament.

The Monaco star had controlled an Abel Aguilar header on his chest before turning and firing the ball in off the underside of the crossbar to set Colombia on course for victory in the round-of-16 clash.

A poll on FIFA.com saw the strike crowned the finest of the summer, with Robin van Persie's diving header in Netherlands' 5-1 win against Spain in the group stage named runner-up.

Rodriguez tweeted: "Thanks to those who voted for the best goal of the World Cup. It was a nice goal, a nice moment to never be forgotten."

Rodriguez, who is expected to seal a move to Real Madrid this summer, also claimed the Golden Boot after contributing six goals, as well as two assists, during his side's World Cup campaign.
