West Bromwich Albion head coach Alan Irvine believes Luke Shaw's move to Manchester United has led to an inflation in asking prices for full-backs.
Shaw, 19, joined United from Southampton last month for 27 million pounds, penning a four-year contract with the Red Devils.
And Irvine feels such a deal has made it harder for clubs to sign players, having already had to pull out of a move for Aaron Cresswell due to Ipswich's valuation of the left-back, who then went on to join West Ham for seven million pounds.
The Baggies have also witnessed Aston Villa go back on a deal that would have seen right-back Alan Hutton move to The Hawthorns, and so have now turned their attention to Liverpool's Andre Wisdom and Jason Davidson of Heracles.
"When you look for full-backs now, the prices have changed as a result as what happened with Luke Shaw," Irvine is quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror.
"Players are worth a lot more than before and that makes it more difficult for us. We need several more new faces in."
