Report: Real close on James Rodriguez

Real Madrid will confirm the signing of Colombia World Cup star James Rodriguez "in the coming days," according to a report in Spanish newspaper AS.

Rodriguez, 23, won the Golden Boot in Brazil after scoring six goals in six games to take his nation to the quarterfinals, with his performances attracting the attention of Europe's elite.

And despite already signing another of the World Cup's standout players in Toni Kroos on Thursday, Madrid are expected to add another galactico to their ranks imminently.

James has already stated his desire to play for Madrid and negotiations between Los Blancos and Monaco have been "stepped up", AS reports.

The Colombia midfielder is expected to sign a five-year deal at the Bernabeu and it is believed he will earn 7.5 million euros per season after tax, with Real thought to be paying around 70 million euros plus a player for his services.

AS also suggests that Monaco asked for Pepe to be included in the James deal but that Madrid were not willing to let the centre-back leave; Brazil midfielder Casemiro appears to be the most likely makeweight.
