Napoli sign Swansea's Michu on loan

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed his club have signed Michu on a season-long loan from Swansea City.

The forward has already arrived in Italy, where he is joining his new teammates in their summer training camp near Verona. Should he impress during his year in Serie A, Napoli have an option to buy the Spaniard for a predetermined fee believed to be 9 million euros.

"Welcome to Michu," said De Laurentiis via Twitter, before last season's third-place Serie A side confirmed the deal on their website, showing the 28-year-old shaking hands with coach and compatriot Rafael Benitez.

Michu scored 20 Premier League goals in the past two seasons for Swansea and was capped once by Spain, last October in a clash with Belarus. He becomes the Azzurri's second new signing this summer after Kalidou Koulibaly.

Michu arrived in South Wales in July 2012 from Rayo Vallecano, scored 22 goals in all competitions during his first season but struggled to recapture that impressive form last term as injuries took their toll. He managed only two goals in 15 Premier League starts last season.

Meanwhile, Swansea are yet to receive any formal bids for striker Wilfried Bony, but the club expect the future of full-back Ben Davies to be resolved next week, PA Sport reported.

Bony, who joined Swansea last summer for a club-record 12 million pounds, is a top target for Tottenham, while Liverpool are also interested in the striker So far, however, neither club has made a concrete offer for the 25-year-old, who scored 16 goals in the Barclays Premier League last season.

Considering Michu's switch, the Swans would be left short of options up front should Bony also depart.
